A. No problem this is a 1" house for a free tenon. Careful use of the router saves chisel time and makes an accurate joint.

Q. When do you cut the arc out of the brace?
A. After the brace is fit we cut the arc out with a Mafell portable bandsaw. Then clean up the arc with a block plane.

What is your favorite chisel to use for timber framing?
I love my 1 1/2" Robert Sorby chisel. The mallet is a Wood Is Good. The two of them perform so well.

When you build a timber frame how do you make shure it is square?
A. You drill the hole in the mortise first then fit it on the ground square it up and drill the tenon. The 1" peg will hold it together when you reassemble it on site.

Timbers in SIP walls
The timbers in this house are Eastern White Pine. The Structural Insulated Panels are 6" on the walls and 12" for the roof.
